Let’s study about collocation.


·        What is collacation itself?

      >  Collocation is a combination of words that are commonly used together; the short describing is “word partners”.

·         Kinds of collocation :

Ø Verb + Noun
Ø Adjective + Noun
Ø Adverb + Noun
Ø Noun + Noun
                      
Example :


1.     VERB + NOUN
a.     Come on time
They always come on time, so they never come late to enter the class.
b.     Close your eyes
Before you blow the candle, you must close your eyes.

2.     ADJECTIVE + NOUN
a.     Melodious voice
Melodist has melodious voice.
b.     Beautiful scenary
In Bromo Mountain, we can find some beautiful scenery.

3.     ADVERB + NOUN

a.     Perfectly understandable
     The material that has given by teacher was perfectly understandable.
b.     Extremely cheap
She bought some extremely cheap trousers at the holiday.

4.     NOUN + NOUN
a.     Round of applause.
After Indi delivered her speech, a lot of people give her a round of applause.
b.     Bag of rice
My aunt bought a bag of rice yesterday.
